*The storm will cost Swedish forestry 18 billion SEK

Aggregate loss and damage for Swedish forestry from the storm in January will be somewhat higher than earlier estimates. Forestry's total loss is now estimated at 18.4 billion SEK.(9 SEK=1 euro).

The Swedish Government has commissioned the National Board of Forestry to make further estimates of the costs resulting from the storm. Those estimates shall constitute the basis for the Government's upcoming request for support from EU's solidarity fund. The new cost estimate is based on a volume of 75 million cubic meters of storm felled forest.

Loss and damage caused by the storm may increase even further, because future additional costs for forestry, for example inventories, increased consultations and pest insects, cannot yet be calculated exactly.
