*UK: from April 2009- only certified timber will be accepted

From April 2009 the British Government will only accept timber that has been independently verified as legal and sustainable, or licensed under FLEGT agreements. From April 2015 only legal and sustainable timber will be accepted. Small forest owners are mentioned as one group who will be affected by this. 
 
Defra has launched an open consultation on the subject on 5th of July and it will be open until 27th of September. More information on consultation and the background document can be found here:
